Day 5: My conservative bad habits

header

Didn’t make it to post yesterday… but hey, I got a normal life too :-)

Let’s talk about bad habits. Because I got some, and I wonder if you do too! Most of my bad habits are a result of me being a bit conservatie sometimes. It’s just that I’m stuck to certain habits and can’t seem to change them, allthough I could get benefit from it.

  • I use Zend Devlopment Environment, but I never create projects. So I’m constantly browsing my drives when opening files.
  • I don’t have a folder on my drive with important files and scripts in it so I can easily copy them when I need them. You don’t wanna know how many times I have downloaded jQuery…
  • Sometimes I start  my browser, go to Google Analytics, check my statistics, close the browser, start the browser again, go to Google Analytics again, and check my statistics again…
  • Same with checking my Hotmail. I sometimes check my mail knowing that I don’t have any…
  • I use WS_FTP 95, which on certain hosting providers automatically disconnects the ftp connection after about 30 seconds of inactivity. So almost each time I want to upload a file I have to connect again.
  • I haven’t installed php + mysql locally, so when I’m working on a project, with every change I do, I have to upload the modified files to see the result…
  • I don’t have a file, or handy webapp which contains all my usernames and passwords like ftp, mail, mysql, etc… So when I need a certain password, I have to digg through thousands of e-mail finding the right mail containing the login and password.
  • I never use Firebug
  • My default page in Firefox is Google. When I start my browser and want to search, I always type www.google.com first in the address bar, regardless of the fact that Google is already open…

That’s what I can think of right now. When I think of something else I will add it to the list! I guess…. :-)

So, what about your bad habits!!

See you tomorrow!
